“Blessed with a gift for composing heartfelt original lyrics, the future looks bright for this homegrown daughter of the New Orleans scene…” - Offbeat Magazine
Renée Gros is a New Orleans-born singer, songwriter, and self-proclaimed “Dive Bar Diva” whose music is as vibrant and dynamic as the city she calls home. Her sound lives at the intersection where Storybook Soul meets Feel-good Rock & Roll and is built on a foundation rich with the type of vulnerability only a true singer-songwriter possesses.
Her debut LP, Glad I’m Wrong, is a coming-of-age record about rejecting other people’s expectations and finding freedom—and sometimes comfort—in not fitting the mold. The album leans into resilience, chosen belonging, and the small, stubborn joys that come with carving out your own path. Gros chose to first release the album exclusively on vinyl, viewing the format as the most meaningful way to honor a project so deeply personal to her. Produced by Tiago Guy (Gros’s husband and favorite musical collaborator) and GRAMMY® award winner Nigel Hall, the album features Gros’s signature powerhouse vocals, warm analog textures, and electric live band energy. The record expands on the foundation she built with her debut EP Temporary Love—a release that blended vintage Rhythm & Blues with her signature style of quirkily vulnerable lyricism, and featured contributions from New Orleans’s finest, including Ivan Neville and Jon Cleary.
“Though tantalizingly brief (only four tracks), she flirts with the breadth of New Orleans music, combining a gospel choir and backup singers with her lead on the first track, ‘Another One’, while recalling the classic syncopated sound of New Orleans funk in ‘Shy Guy’. Both sound like hits.” - Offbeat Magazine
Her new work makes good on the promise of her earlier songs, showcasing a gift for heartfelt, original storytelling. Glad I’m Wrong is a statement of arrival, offering a glimpse into the next chapter of a voice born in New Orleans but meant to travel far beyond it.
