“Blessed with a gift for composing heartfelt original lyrics, the future looks bright for this homegrown daughter of the New Orleans scene…”
- Offbeat Magazine
Renée Gros is a New Orleans-born singer, songwriter, and self-proclaimed “Dive Bar Diva” whose music is as soulful and dynamic as the city she calls home. At 29, she’s carving out her own place in the roots music landscape with a sound that moves easily between folk-inspired storytelling, Southern rock grit, and the timeless pull of R&B and soul.
Her debut full-length album, Glad I’m Wrong, set to arrive in Spring 2026, is a roots-based coming-of-age record about rejecting other people’s expectations and finding freedom—and sometimes comfort—in not fitting the mold. The album leans into resilience, chosen belonging, and the small, stubborn joys of carving your own path. The record expands on the foundation she built with her debut EP Temporary Love—a release that blended vintage rhythm and blues with quirky vulnerability and featured contributions from Jon Cleary (Bonnie Raitt), Nigel Hall (Lettuce), and Ivan Neville (Dumpstaphunk).
Since then, Gros’s voice and presence have taken her from neighborhood bars to festival stages and beyond. She has shared bills with acts like Houndmouth, Galactic, and Jon Cleary & The Absolute Monster Gentlemen, and in 2024 she made her New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival debut alongside her husband and favorite collaborator, Tiago Guy. She has also performed alongside industry heavyweights including Emmylou Harris, Grace Potter, and Allen Stone at Tulane University’s The Tipping Point, singing in the house band under the direction of Eric Krasno. In 2025, she embarked on her first U.S. tour, with stops including Dee's Country Cocktail Lounge in Nashville and New York City’s legendary club, The Bitter End. Her debut single, “Shy Guy,” also found its way to national audiences as part of A24’s Survival of the Thickest on Netflix.
Her new work makes good on the promise of her earlier songs, showcasing a gift for heartfelt, original storytelling. Glad I’m Wrong isn’t just a first album—it’s a statement of arrival, offering a glimpse into the next chapter of a voice born in New Orleans but meant to travel far beyond it.
