“New Orleans' Renée Gros captures growth and living as her fullest self on Glad I'm Wrong

- The Gambit

Renée Gros is a New Orleans-born singer, songwriter, and self-proclaimed “Dive Bar Diva” whose music is as vibrant and dynamic as the city she calls home. Gros’s sound lives at the intersection where vinatge Soul meets Rock & Roll, and is built on a foundation rich with the type of vulnerability that only a true singer-songwriter possesses.

Her debut full-length album, Glad I’m Wrong, is a coming-of-age record about rejecting other people’s expectations and finding freedom—and sometimes comfort—in not fitting the mold. The album leans into resilience, chosen belonging, and the small, stubborn joys that come with carving out your own path. Produced by Tiago Guy, Gros’s husband and favorite musical collaborator, and GRAMMY® winner Nigel Hall, the album features Gros’s signature powerhouse vocals, warm analog textures, and electric live band energy. The record expands on the foundation she built with her debut EP Temporary Love—a release that blended vintage Rhythm & Blues with her signature style of quirkily vulnerable lyricism, and featured contributions from New Orleans’s finest, including Ivan Neville and Jon Cleary.

Since then, Gros’s voice and magnetic stage presence have taken her from neighborhood bars to festival stages and beyond. She has shared bills with acts like Houndmouth, Galactic, and Jon Cleary & The Absolute Monster Gentlemen, and in 2024 she made her New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival debut and recently returned for the 2026 edition. She has also performed alongside industry heavyweights including Emmylou Harris, Grace Potter, and Allen Stone at Tulane University’s The Tipping Point, singing in the house band under the direction of Eric Krasno. In 2025, she embarked on her first U.S. tour, with stops including Dee's Country Cocktail Lounge in Nashville and New York City’s legendary club, The Bitter End. Her debut single, “Shy Guy,” also found its way to national audiences as part of A24’s Survival of the Thickest on Netflix.

Her new work makes good on the promise of her earlier songs, showcasing a gift for heartfelt, original storytelling. Glad I’m Wrongis a statement of arrival, offering a glimpse into the next chapter of a voice born in New Orleans but meant to travel far beyond it.
